Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor is a famous naval base that was attacked by the Japanese military on December 7, 1941. Unfortunately, the U.S. wasn't ready because they ignored the warnings from Washington that Japan was about to attack, and they didn't think Japan could attack the U.S. with a large scale strtegic attack. Japan did attack, though, and their objectives were to:
The Japanese attacked in two waves with torpedo planes, fighters, and bombers. The first destroying as much as possible, the second taking care of whatever the first wave hadn't destroyed.
- destroy the important American fleet units
- consolidate its position and strengthen its naval fleet
- destroy America's morale so that they would less likely engage themselves in war in the western Pacific Ocean and Dutch East Indies.
